This A4 poster and smaller size card (102 x 75mm) are designed for teachers to use as reminders for the powerful BRAIN method of self-regulation.

 

Teachers must first master self-regulation before they can guide and support their students in managing their emotions and behaviours.

 

The BRAIN acronym has been adapted from the powerful mindfulness process called the RAIN method developed by Michelle McDonald.  By adding the 'B' to the start of the acronym, it helps us remember to breathe before we do anything else.  The method is rooted in the mindfulness movement which emphasises maintaining awareness of your surroundings, thoughts and feelings without judgement.  This method is useful for teachers to self-regulate, so they can maintain a calm and composed demeanour, even in challenging situations.  

 

Place the poster in your classroom, the staffroom, or on your lanyard as a handy reminder.
